My Bio
After 40 long years wandering this earth, I can finally call myself a resident of my favourite city on it: New Orleans. I am also very happily and recently engaged to someone for whom they haven't invented words to adequately describe.

I've been an amateur/hobby photographer since about age 15, and have recently ventured into professional territory. Hopefully being in this place will lead to bigger things in that arena.

My favourite photographers are Henri Cartier-Bresson and Johnny Donnells (a New Orleanean who sadly left this earth just a few years ago)

Other stuff I like includes:
Music of almost any kind, except what you'd find on commercial radio.
The kind of movies that make your head work.
Food and drink, sometimes more of one than the other.
DeSade, Rimbaud, Fritz the Cat, traveling, French stuff, vinyl hunting & thrift shopping, talking about the evils of religion, the lack of necessity thereof, and the need for population control.

Jeezus, it's been a very long time since I put words in this space. Not sure anyone noticed. Not even sure why I still come here. I do follow a few deviants and enjoy seeing their new work, but there's less and less of that lately and more and more bad snapshots, cosplay and foot fetish submissions it seems. But anyway, maybe more for my benefit than yours I'm going to tell a little story about a recent mistake I made regarding capturing a moment that will now only live on in my head. Last weekend I read an article on Pollstar which discussed the saturation of photography at concerts, now that every phone is a camera and people are obsessed

So we've been in New Orleans just over a year now, and while a total recap would be lengthy and not many people would bother to read it anyway, I'll just say that it's been an adventure. We just survived our first hurricane, the worst of it for us being one broken window and 3 days without air conditioning.  The worst part of it for me personally was that working in the grocery retail environment was hellish. I did make a nice chunk of commission on selling water though! I had of course thought that living in this wonderful city would inspire me to be more involved in photography, and I still hope to use the locale to my advantage in the pur

In the swing

We finally (well, at the end of December) moved into the city. No more waking up at 4am to make the 45 minute drive across Lake Pontchartrain to get to work. My commute is now 6 blocks. And I finally get to say that we live IN New Orleans as opposed to "in the area". We live in the part of town known as Mid-City -- because it's right in the middle of the city, I suppose.  And it's a great neighborhood. We're right next to the Canal streetcar line, which means we can be in the French Quarter for $1.25 in about 15 minutes and not have to worry about parking or driving home. Yes, we still enjoy the Quarter from time to time, but it's great that

Hey again,
I just replied you you again on the forums, and I forgot to add that the Toby Benson that I mentioned has a facebook. So you could check out his work on there if you want!
Awesome - thank you so much!
No problem! Let me know if you find out anything!
